Leading research and advisory firm, BioInformatics LLC, today announced that 50 companies have met the criteria for nomination as a potential recipient of the prestigious Life Science Industry Awards®.

BioInformaticsOver 1,000 scientific customers named more than 400 individual life science companies as “best-in-class” in 30 different award categories. Only 50, however, met the criteria for inclusion as a nominee on the ballot ballot now being completed by thousands of scientists around the world. Their votes will determine the Winners to be named at a gala ceremony to be held at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, DC on November 18, 2014.

“Our approach to the awards is different than that of other companies and trade publications,” said Bill Kelly, President of BioInformatics LLC. “We bring true Voice of Customer into the nomination and voting process backed up by rigorous scoring methodology that brings to these awards the highest degree of integrity.”

First held in 2004, recipients of the Life Science Industry Awards are determined not just by the number of votes received, but also on the performance of their products and the satisfaction and loyalty of their customers. Winning a Life Science Industry Award has become the benchmark of excellence for companies in the life science tools industry.

The scientists participated in the voting process are drawn from around the world and are engaged in multiple areas of research in university, government and pharmaceutical laboratories. The nominated companies are organized into 30 distinct product, communications and service categories that reflect the breadth of the market. The top five companies in each category will be named finalists, and the company with the highest score in each category will be named the winner. Employees of life science tools companies are not permitted to participate.

Perennial winners such as Thermo Fisher Scientific and Life Technologies (treated as separate brands for the purposes of this year’s vote) are present in the list of nominees along with other industry giants. But fast growing companies including Cell Signaling Technologies, Miltenyi Biotec, STEMCELL Technologies and Stemgent are also in contention.
