Microplate Based Cellular Assays Greatly Benefit from a New Atmospheric Control Unit (ACU) The next generation ACU, designed by BMG
LABTECH, allows for the independent regulation of both oxygen (O2)
and carbon dioxide (CO2) inside of the microplate reader chamber.
This will allow researchers to have complete control over the atmospheric conditions
for all cell types and cell-based assays that can be performed in a microplate. In the last decade a plethora of cell based assays for secondary screening and for pre-animal verification have been developed. As a consequence, the need for proper atmospheric and environmental control within detection instrumentation has arisen. As with many innovations in the microplate reader industry, BMG LABTECH has met that need by engineering their Omega series of microplate readers with their next generation Atmospheric Control Unit (ACU). To properly control the atmosphere within the microplate reader chamber, this ACU has two independently regulated valves for both oxygen (O2) and carbon dioxide (CO2). Now all types of cell-based assays (mammalian, stem, bacterial, yeast) can be performed within a microplate reader using the most ideal atmospheric condition. Furthermore, cellular conditions such as hypoxia or anoxia can be easily induced. This will provide more accurate testing of drugs for disease states such as stroke, ischemia, cardiovascular, or wound healing. A built-in microprocessor controls the unique two valve system allowing for complete independent regulation of the two gases. This ensures the best conditions for your assay are kept constant while consuming the minimal amount of gases once equilibrium is reached. Any gas concentration combination is easily programmed via a touch key pad and there is no need to change cylinders or gas supplies when changing either gas concentration. The BMG LABTECH ACU is the most flexible gas control system available for a microplate reader. When used in combination with other microplate reader features, such as temperature control and shaking, users can reproduce most physiological cellular conditions. In addition, the ACU's ability to continuously monitor conditions allows for extended cell based experiments to be performed without user intervention. The ACU provides a true walk away, hands free, cellular assay solution for your microplate reader experiments. Applications include: mammalian cells, stem cells, hypoxia, cell viability, cell proliferation, migration studies, invasion assays, intracellular pH, angiogenesis, ischemia and reperfusion, to name a few. With this next-generation ACU, BMG LABTECH is providing the future of microplate reader technology to you today.
