Spectro Scientific, a leading developer and manufacturer of analytical tools and software for fluid and machine condition monitoring, has released a new, comprehensive Oil Analysis Handbook.

The 106-page, fully illustrated publication provides an introduction to oil analysis and oil sampling best practices, outlines methods and benefits of route-based oil analysis, and explains how oil analysis enables detection of lubricant mix-ups.

The handbook reviews and evaluates various fluid analysis methods including RDE and infrared spectroscopy, particle analysis, and viscometer techniques. Spectro’s advanced developments of those technologies, namely Laser Net Fines® particle analyzers, SpectroVISC portable viscometers, and Fluid Scan® portable infrared spectrometers are described in detail. Case studies involving railway, marine and industrial applications present practical examples of oil analysis in action.
