New Software for ambr Micro Bioreactor System Offers Scientists 24/7 Control

ambr Micro Bioreactor System TAP Biosystems, (formerly The Automation Partnership), the leading supplier of innovative automation and consumables for life science applications is delighted to introduce its new software for the ambrTM micro bioreactor system, allowing scientists to remotely check and control their bioprocessing activities, as if they were present in their laboratory.

The new ambr software, which controls all the programming, processing and data generation activities of the ambr workstation, can be set-up for pre-arranged or on-demand email alerts and reports. These will be in a text or graph format that can be downloaded to smart phones such as the iPhone. This function enables ambr users to access data, or check that all the micro bioreactors on the ambr workstation are running at optimum efficiency. The benefit of remote access is that by removing the need to physically come into the laboratory the amount of out-of hours working and travelling can be significantly reduced

The ambr software can be accessed via remote desktop, allowing users to monitor and control the functions of a number of ambr systems located at different sites. This capability can also enable, with the permission of the operator, TAP Biosystems' service and support team to remotely access an ambr installation to provide enhanced levels of technical support.

TAP Biosystems has also made other time saving additions to the ambr software, including features such as a simpler user interface, a quicker method of integrating new labware into the system and also a data report feature for easier export into Excel spreadsheets.

Scientists wanting to find out about ambr can meet with TAP Biosystems at the forthcoming ISBioTech (International Society for Bioprocess Technology) Meeting on Booth 17, or on Booth 32 at the BioProcess International Conference in Nice, France. Dr Barney Zoro, from TAP Biosystems will be presenting a poster at BioProcess International on Thursday 7th April, illustrating ambr's performance with CHO cell culture.

Dr Barney Zoro, TAP Biosystems' ambr Product Manager explained: "Our team of application specialists have worked closely with ambr users in contract research and biopharma companies for over a year now. Bioprocess scientists often need to access their results out of hours, from another site or on the move, and this had led to the developments within our new ambr software."

Zoro continued: "We look forward to meeting scientists at the forthcoming BioProcess International and ISBioTech conferences to discuss how ambr could support their bioprocessing productivity targets."
