Dr. Brolo says, "collaborating with a local B.C. company provides a valuable learning opportunity to the University for applying research to a practical problem, which could make a positive impact to society in the future.”

NSERCC Engage Grants are designed to give companies that operate from a Canadian base access to the unique knowledge and expertise available at Canadian universities. These grants are intended to foster the development of new research partnerships between an academic researcher and a company that have never collaborated before, by supporting short-term research and development projects aimed at addressing a company-specific problem in the natural sciences or engineering fields.

This research project in the field Raman Spectroscopy will allow Photon Control R&D Ltd. and Photon Control Inc. to build on their existing Spectroscopy experience with this new application, potentially leading to development of future technology and products in this field.
