Screening Europe & Protein Crystallography among scheduled conference streams at ELA 2011

European Lab Automation 2011 Select Biosciences, organisers of European Lab Automation (ELA) 2011, are delighted to announce that Screening Europe and Advances in Protein Crystallography will be among the streams of this highly topical conference & exhibition. The inaugural event will take place 30 June - 1 July in the historic city of Hamburg, Germany and will bring together ten distinct conference tracks with 20 expert speakers per track. Each will address a specific application area but with a core focus on automated techniques and equipment, and associated informatics.

Screening Europe will explore the very latest key topics relating to lab automation in screening, including HCS, chemical probes, fragment-based drug discovery, label-free assays and compound management. With attendance of both novice users and experts alike, the conference will cover the most relevant and challenging issues of lab automated technologies. Among the keynote speakers are: Anthony Davies, Trinity College Dublin; Steve Rees, GlaxoSmithKline and Lorenz Mayr, Novartis.

The ‘Advances in Protein Crystallography' stream will highlight many of the emerging technologies within crystallography and examine how they have been applied through speakers who are leaders in their fields. Keynote speakers will  include, Professor Naomi Chayen, Imperial College London presenting ‘Smart Materials for Protein Crystallisation' and Professor Roderick Hubbard, University of York, discussing ‘Current Perspectives in Fragment-Based Ligand Discovery'. Further presentations will explore areas such as protein chemistry and crystallization, new laboratory instrumentation and techniques, advances in diffraction techniques and crystallographic computing, and fragment-based lead discovery.

Undertaking complex research whilst keeping up to speed with the latest equipment and developments for R&D in biotech and drug discovery can prove time consuming. At ELA, opportunities to attend workshops and forums for scientific discussion will give attendees a ready insight into major new advances in lab automation and an understanding of how applications of these new strategies and technologies can improve overall effectiveness of their research.

Training courses will also be taking place throughout the duration of the event, please see details below:
