Siemens Offers Laboratories Additional Workflow Enhancements for Immunoassay Testing

publication date: Jan 15, 2010

author/source: Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc.
Siemens ADVIA Centaur® XP Immunoassay System can now seamlessly connect to IMMULITE® 2000, IMMULITE 2000® XPi, and IMMULITE® 2500 immunoassay systems and the ADVIA® 1800 system using Siemens VersaCell™ solution, providing mid-sized clinical diagnostic laboratories a flexible, cost-effective system for streamlining workflow and increasing productivity.

The VersaCell automation system allows laboratories to automatically run diagnostic tests on multiple systems using a single patient sample. The scalable VersaCell solution reduces manual labor of sample sorting and loading, eliminates errors associated with manual sample handling, and provides a cost-effective way to handle increasing test volume. The versatility of the VersaCell system offers various instrument combinations to address a wide range of laboratory needs for menu and throughput. For added flexibility, analyzers connected to the VersaCell system can also be run separately when needed.

“The ability to connect ADVIA Centaur XP, ADVIA chemistry and IMMULITE Immunoassay Systems with the VersaCell automation system is an example of Siemens customer-focused innovation, enabling laboratories to increase the efficiency and productivity of their operations,” said Dave Hickey, Executive Vice President, Central Laboratory and Product Development, Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics.

The Siemens Healthcare Sector is one of the world's largest suppliers to the healthcare industry and a trendsetter in medical imaging, laboratory diagnostics, medical information technology and hearing aids. Siemens offers its customers products and solutions for the entire range of patient care from a single source – from prevention and early detection to diagnosis, and on to treatment and aftercare. In fiscal year 2009 (to September 30), the Sector posted revenue of 11.9 billion euros and profit of around 1.5 billion euros. For further information please visit: www.siemens.com/healthcare.
