Huge hydraulic excavators and giant dump trucks used in the mining industry can be seen everywhere on WesTrac’s premises in Tianjin. The Caterpillar brand’s emblematic black and yellow colors are omnipresent. So is the Metrohm green in the wet chemistry section of their SOS lab. Samples consisting of lubricants and hydraulic oils are received on short notice and are immediately checked for crucial parameters such as TAN and TBN as well as water content.

These tests are performed on automated Metrohm analyzers that are controlled by the titration software tiamo™. «We just have to place the samples on the rack and press the start button» says Li Lin, the Manager of the SOS lab, describing the key benefit of the high degree of automation that his Metrohm analyzers provide. Real-time coverage of the analysis on the instrument display and the software’s clear layout are other benefits of tiamo™ that Li Lin emphasizes.
