For many years Sherwood Scientific's Model 926
Chloride Analyser has been used for salt measurement by food ingredient
suppliers and manufacturers throughout the world. The 926 offers many benefits over other
methods for Chloride determination.
Simplicity, speed, and accuracy, are all important and well established
features and increasingly cost per test and cost of post-process waste disposal
are all helping to cement the Model 926's reputation as an industry leader.
The Model 926 is particularly popular with the
cheese manufacturing industry.
Briefly; the analysis of cheese salt content,
including sample preparation, goes as follows;
Weigh sample; add warm water, macerate to dilute
and dissolve salt present, filter, standardise extract volume and finally
pipette the extract into the chloride analyser's beaker and press titrate.
The displayed result, with sample weight and
diluent volume, are used to calculate salt content
Sherwood Scientific's Active Salt software package
was developed with Cheese Industry suppliers to simplify that process. Using RS232 output from the Model 926
Chloride Analyser and also a weighing balance; data is transferred without
manual transcription. Salt content
calculation is automatically performed to generate results and a final
report. The software offers improved
efficiency and reduction of errors. It
also allows setting of upper and lower limits for salt content of a given
product line. Samples with results
outside the limits are instantly highlighted, allowing corrective action and
ensuring your cheese's seasonal perfection.
The Active Salt software package has recently been updated to allow two
Model 926 Chloride analysers to be connected to one PC running two instances of
Active Salt software; a real advantage for major food processing facilities
with high sample throughput and a wide diversity of product lines to quality
control.
The New Active Salt Package will be on show for
the first time at the Achema Exhibition in Frankfurt which
runs from 18
th to 22
nd June; visit
the Sherwood Scientific Stand G38 in Hall 4.2.
Active Salt may be used to simplify the salt
content calculation for other foods and food ingredients for further information
