The hotly anticipated Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) conference, returns to Lab Innovations, taking place at Birmingham’s NEC on 4 & 5 November 2015.

The two day free-to-attend programme will focus on an array of critical industry themes, including 3D Printing, Science in Space, Laboratory Safety, Best Practices and Tax Relief.

Dr Geraint Morgan, Project Officer within the Faculty of Science at The Open University, will be taking to the stage on day one of the show to present ‘Down to Earth’ - a look at the first ever landing of a space craft on a comet. He will explore how the European Space Agency’s probe, Rosetta, deployed its landing craft Philae in November last year, analysing some of the statistics it has unearthed. He will share some of the initial findings and offer a whole new perspective on the properties and formation of comets and the award-winning applications they have developed for use on Earth during the 10 year, four billion mile journey chasing the comet.

Highlighting the show’s breadth of content, researchers and laboratory professionals will also have the opportunity to understand how to boost profits or research budgets through innovative tax relief. Steven Holmes, Tax Consultant at Armstrong Watson will cover both the Patent Box, which is aimed at companies with patents, and the Research & Development tax relief, which is aimed at companies who are seeking an advance in their field of science or technology. Holmes will also provide some useful planning tips to help maximise any claims.

Dr David Kinnison, Chemistry Lecture at The University of Southampton, will take a detailed look at ‘Laboratory safety and nanomaterials’ and Robert Anderson, Senior Statistical Consultant at JMP, who will be exploring ‘Best practice in the design of experiments’.

Lab Innovations 2015 will also feature a series of taster training sessions, run by industry professionals, discussing some of the hottest and most relevant subjects of the moment. For instance, Anthias Consulting will be hosting its session on day two of the show, specifically focusing on how to add another dimension of separation through analytical resolution and deconvolution.

In addition to these leading names, the RSC conference has also confirmed two major industry experts are on-board as this year’s keynote speakers. These headline acts will be unveiled at a later date.

Running alongside the conference programme will be a full exhibition, featuring the latest laboratory technology & consumables, analytical & biotech equipment from leading industry companies. Plus, Campden BRI, the UK’s largest independent food and drink research body, will return to carry out its practical workshops and host its own free-to-attend seminars.

Lab Innovations 2015 will be held on the 4 & 5 November 2015 at Birmingham’s NEC.
