SciTOX announces that it has received its first UniTOX analyzer order. The National Polytechnic School (Escuela Politecnica Nacional) in Ecuador will be using the UniTOX to develop rapid screening procedures for treated hazardous wastes.

The department head for Environmental Engineering, Dr. Trajano Ramirez said, "We look forward to using the UniTOX to develop new rapid screening methods for different hazardous wastewater samples. SciTOX is delivering a system that allows us to use different mixes of bacteria to study the metabolic effect of hazardous wastes, before and after treatment."

"National Polytechnic School will be the first university in Ecuador in starting research on toxicity of waste water treatment, using the new technology developed by SciTOX," he added.

The UniTOX was developed to serve Universities and aid in the development of rapid screening procedures. "The UniTOX analyzer is unique in that customers can use any mix of cells types, from bacteria and protozoa, up through different animal or plant cell cultures as the base for metabolic measurements," said Ralph Wattinger, the CEO of SciTOX.
