Scientific Laboratory Supplies (SLS) are pleased to announce the launch of their new Sustainable Laboratory Solutions brochure, web subsite and their pledge to the ‘One Tree Planted’ charity.

After months of research into what their customers are really looking for, from a supplier, regarding sustainability within the laboratory environment SLS have brought together some really useful information to help laboratory workers realise their green goals. The brochure (which is printed on carbon balanced FSC certified paper using sustainable print practices) is a handy source of information covering SLS’ efforts with it’s own environmental footprint for customers wanting to understand the green credentials of their suppliers.

SLS are the only UK lab supplies distributor who have and continue to commission independent case studies. These include the effect racking has on ULT freezer efficiency, how different refrigerators are effected by door openings plus several more offering an insight into a number of key sustainability issues that can be found within the laboratory environment.

It also showcases products that have sustainable properties - be it energy efficiency or alternative packaging solutions. There is a section dedicated to practical tips for a sustainable laboratory along with some key things to consider when purchasing for the laboratory.

SLS appreciate this is a journey and this is why they have a dedicated section within their website which contains up to the minute information on what SLS are doing in the area of sustainability along with much of the information found within the brochure and certifications.

As part of the resource they are putting into this area SLS have teamed-up with ‘One Tree Planted’ and have had over 1000 trees planted in a variety of locations around the world where forests have faced devastation. The average mature tree is capable of
sequestering 48 lbs or ~22kg of carbon each year plus reforestation helps the planet to maintain it’s biodiversity.
