Aplegen, the new up and coming face of the gel documentation market now bring to the European and Middle East market place a brand new product.

Omega Lum WHaving already carved out a strong following in the USA and the Far East for innovative products, the introduction of the Omega Lum W for multicolour R, G, B as well as chemiluminescent imaging brings performance and features at a price which is now affordable to a much wider market.

This small footprint system breaks the mould of the older traditional heavy and cumbersome gel documentation systems by utilising some innovative design work and incorporating an integral tablet for control. This compact package sits neatly on any laboratory bench ready to image gels, western blots or multiplexing multi-coloured blots at the click of a button.

At the heart of any gel documentation system is a quality camera and with the Omega Lum W comes one of the best. A massive 8.4MP scientific grade cooled CCD camera coupled with an f/0.95 motorized lens and six position filter wheel gives the system outstanding power and performance. This combination provides the highest sensitivity and signal capture for perfect imaging giving amazingly low background and with a wide dynamic range for accurate quantification.

One of the key features is the SmartCapture TechnologyTM. This unique automated control eliminates the need for filter selection and focus adjustment thereby helping the user to obtain high quality images every time. Couple this with the ability to do multiplex imaging in the red, green, and blue channels to capture multiple proteins images simultaneously without having to strip and re-probe and you have a system which truly performs to the highest standard.

With laboratory space at a premium the compact footprint of the Omega Lum W allows it to fit on any bench top. Yet the system can still comfortably accommodate large format gels and blots (i.e. PROTEAN II, Subcell 96). Applications cover chemiluminescence, UV fluorescence, colorimetry, densitometry, RGB multiplex imaging and all standard gel documentation uses.

This fully equipped system includes Total Lab analysis software, dual wavelength transilluminator, white light, EPI blue and EPI LED’s at 457, 530 and 628nm. Emission filters for orange, red, green and blue come as standard. This fully configured system means the users does not have to be concerned about selecting the right options since everything needed comes as standard.

The Omega Lum W really is the complete package. It brings together a wide range of features normally only found on far more expensive systems with no compromise on quality. For a laboratory looking to image a wide range of gel and blot types the system offers the ideal solution.
