Carbolite enhances portfolio of Verder’s Laboratory Division![]() Carbolite Limited, a leading manufacturer of laboratory and industrial furnaces, has become part of the Verder Group, a German-Dutch family-owned technology group.
This acquisition adds a new product range to the portfolio of Verder's Laboratory Division. Carbolite, which is located in the English Peak District (East Midlands), has over 70 years of experience in the design, manufacture and sales of electric laboratory and industrial furnaces. "The excellent market position of Carbolite in the laboratory segment, the high quality standards and the growth potential make Carbolite a very exciting addition to our existing companies", explains Andries Verder, CEO of the Verder Group. "We firmly believe that the extensive network of Retsch, Eltra and Endecotts will be a large asset for Carbolite." The company employs 160 staff and owns distribution companies in Germany, France and the US which have provided for significant growth during the past years. As the worldwide leader in their market segment, Carbolite export products to more than 100 countries. "After several years of strong growth under the umbrella of the holding company Nova Capital, we are pleased to become a member of the Verder Group which will no doubt add great value due to its strong penetrations in almost all the markets we serve. Our offering to our customers has just become even more impressive" says John Bailey, CEO of Carbolite. Carbolite will be managed as a stand-alone unit within Verder's Laboratory Division and the current management will remain with the company. Carbolite products are used in laboratories as well as in an industrial environment. The company provides both standard solutions and individually customized instruments. The product range includes laboratory furnaces (Ashing/Burn Off Furnaces) and special industrial furnaces (e. g. for precious metals or ceramics). For more information about Carbolite click here About Verder The German-Dutch technology group VERDER comprises the divisions laboratory instruments and positive displacement pumps. Retsch GmbH, located near Duesseldorf, belongs to the laboratory division and is the world's leading manufacturer of sample preparation equipment. Retsch Technology GmbH, which is also part of the laboratory division, is a leading solution provider for particle characterization. With the acquisition of Eltra GmbH in March 2012, the product range of the laboratory division has been enhanced by elemental analyzers for carbon, sulphur, oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen. The positive displacement pump division has production sites in the UK and Switzerland and delivers special pumps to the pharmaceutical and chemical industry as well as to the food, oil and gas industry. In addition, Verder holds a share of approx. 15.5 % in the listed company Analytik Jena AG. The Verder Group with currently 600 employees is family-owned in the second generation and directed by Andries Verder. |
