Seward moves to larger premises to double production capabilities

Seward LtdSeward Ltd, manufacturer and developer of the world leading, patented Stomacher® Laboratory Paddle Blender range for over 40 years, has moved to new premises within Worthing, UK. The new building, which is wholly owned by Seward, represents a significant investment by the company following the securing of a NatWest/RBS Manufacturing Fund to ensure a doubling of manufacturing and storage facilities. As a rapidly growing company globally, Seward needed to ensure shorter lead times for its industry standard Stomacher® sample preparation products for microbiological analyses and tissue processing.

Redeveloped specifically for Seward operations, in addition to the new manufacturing, storage and office facilities, the new premises houses a purpose built R&D laboratory for product development, application assessment and customer protocol development. In addition, further investment in web conferencing facilities will enhance support for Seward's increasing customer base globally, enabling training webinars and in depth technical support whatever the customer location.

The new premises support a very necessary increased production capacity. Within the first half of 2010, Seward saw nearly a 20% growth in sales of its patented Stomacher laboratory blenders, in comparison to the same period in 2009. Notably, sales of its Stomacher 80 biomaster range for small tissue processing, increased by 53% and its large volume blender, the Stomacher 3500, saw a massive 72% growth. Much of this growth has been driven by new applications and the company's US branch, Seward Inc, established 2 years ago.

"We are dedicated to maintaining excellence in our products, customer service and support for our rapidly growing global customer base, so the increased size and capacity of our new premises ensures we can guarantee this now and in the future," said Stuart Ray, Technical Director, Seward Ltd. "We are seeing strong growth in the US and Asia/Pacific regions, consequently Seward is also expanding and the investment in our new facilities confirms our commitment to shortening lead times and meeting customer needs worldwide."
