Consistent Consumable Quality Improves CHN Microanalysis Results

Exeter Analytical reports on how the consistency and quality of routine microanalysis consumables can have a significant effect on the variability of determined percentage carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen (CHN) results.

exeterpr90-An existing user of an Exeter Analytical Model 440 CHN analyser, driven by tight budgetary considerations, elected to try to save some money by buying consumables from a non-certified supplier.  However after a few weeks they noticed that blank carbon and hydrogen readings from CHN analyses performed with these new tin capsules and quartz reaction tubes had become higher and inconsistent.  In addition due to this new inconsistency the consumption of consumables had also risen significantly due to the need for re-runs. Switching back to Exeter Analytical tin capsules and quartz reaction tubes these problems were seen to go away.

As an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer and supplier of CHN microanalysis consumables – Exeter Analytical has established in-house systems to monitor and ensure the consistent, high quality of its consumables.  Through high investment in stock, Exeter Analytical aims to supply within 24 hours a large range of quality accredited microanalysis consumables to ensure top analytical precision and optimum productivity. CHN microanalysis consumables are available to operate with most commercial elemental microanalysis systems.

Exeter Analytical is a company dedicated to elemental microanalysis for over 25 years. Our expertise and experience with instruments, consumables and supplies has allowed us to better understand all issues facing microanalysts.  As a consequence, whether you are a regular or an occasional purchaser, experienced and knowledgeable staff is always available to provide technical advice.
