Lab Innovations, the UK’s largest trade show for the lab industry, taking place at the NEC, Birmingham, on October 29 and 30, has announced its most exciting conference programme yet.

The key themes being addressed at this year’s show include sustainability, robotics and automation, quality, accreditation and compliance, biotech innovations, professional development, and technical product advice and demonstrations. All talks are available for free to all show attendees across both days.

The Royal Society of Chemistry Stage will host the show’s keynote talks on both days of the show at 1 pm. On day one, renowned science and natural history broadcaster, Liz Bonnin, will take to the stage to discuss her vision for the change our planet needs. Liz is well known for her work hosting the BBC podcast What Planet Are We On?, which has featured guests such as Sir David Attenborough and Christiana Figueres.

On Day two, Marc Reid, professor at the University of Strathclyde and author of You Are (Not) a Fraud: A Scientist’s Guide to Imposter Syndrome, will explain how to recognise and tackle imposter syndrome in science settings.

On day one of Lab Innovations 2025, The Future of Laboratories Stage, sponsored by My Green Lab and LabOS and powered by Laboratory News, will host Boaz Gal, CTO at LabOS, who will explore how we prepare for the labs of tomorrow, Sharon Palmer of Binary Vision who will discuss how to unlock the power of data visualisation in digital transformation and Andy Evans of Green Light Labs who will share insights on sustainable laboratory equipment. All this and more before the stage hosts the annual lab awards ceremony at 3.30 pm.

The Quality Infrastructure Forum will feature Maya Carlyle, Principal AI Engineer at National Physical Laboratory, who will explore the impact of AI in management, Olga Kazakove, Fellow at NPL, who will outline how to unlock trust in the quantum sector, and Chris Blackwell-Frost, CEO at Vanguard Healthcare Solutions, alongside Phillip Godden, managing director at Modular Clean Air, who will explore next generation cleanroom solutions.

Day two is just as exciting as the Biotech Forum, sponsored by Scientific Bioprocessing and Sartorius, will feature Caitlin Broadbent, sustainable research officer at University College London, who will discuss sustainability in action, and Rob ten Haaft, market developer bioprocessing at Bronkhorst High-Tech BV, who will discuss innovative advances in bioprocess flow control.

“Our conference programme for this year is our most exciting yet, with a diverse spread of speakers and topics representing all aspects of the lab community,” explained Simon Farnfield, event director at Lab Innovations and Advanced Engineering. “From breakthroughs in cutting-edge research to the latest sustainability insights and even hands-on technical demonstrations, we have tailored the agenda so that there is something for everyone.”
