Veolia Water Technologies has released a new video showing how their ultrapure water technology is helping cutting edge research at the National Graphene Institute.

NGI WPsystemThe video includes material provided by The University of Manchester, in particular a fascinating introduction to graphene, the most exciting material of the 21st century, its almost limitless potential and the amazing research facility that is the National Graphene Institute.

Graphene is only a single molecule thick and research at this level requires water of ultimate purity - well in advance of the current highest standards for semiconductor work. The video takes a tour of Veolia’s water purification and distribution systems in the 1,500m2 of class 100 and 1000 cleanrooms and laboratory areas, and explains the engineering behind them.

The building services contract was executed by Balfour Beatty Engineering Services who recognised the need to work with a water treatment company with a proven record of expertise and service excellence. In the video, Gabriel Bennett, Balfour Beatty’s Project Manager, explains why they chose Veolia and how the design teams worked together, using the latest project management techniques, to win a prestigious award.

Veolia group is the global leader in optimized resource management. With over 179,000 employees* worldwide, the Group designs and provides water, waste and energy management solutions that contribute to the sustainable development of communities and industries. Through its three complementary business activities, Veolia helps to develop access to resources, preserve available resources, and to replenish them.

In 2014, the Veolia group supplied 96 million people with drinking water and 60 million people with wastewater service, produced 52 million megawatt hours of energy and converted 31 million metric tons of waste into new materials and energy. Veolia Environnement (listed on Paris Euronext: VIE) recorded consolidated revenue of €24.4 billion* in 2014.
