Quality solutions for clinical toxicology

randoxRandox supply over 60,000 laboratories worldwide. In 2010 they reached a milestone, having manufactured their 40 billionth test for diagnostic use. Randox offer both conventional homogenous EIA products for clinical toxicology testing and have progressed in this field with pioneering Biochip Array Technology. Incorporating 9x9mm biochips, Biochip Array Technology advances on ELISA principles to offer efficient, multiplex testing. Randox also provide a range of quality management solutions including quality control material and external quality assessment schemes (PT schemes) for toxicology.

Drug misuse has become a growing issue whether it concerns legal or illegal drugs. As a result, accurate drug screening has become customary in a range of everyday circumstances. Reasons for testing can include health, safety or occupational requirements. Randox have developed four Biochip analysers to meet various testing needs from point of collection, onsite testing, to high throughput and STAT analysis in the laboratory. The Randox range of solutions for clinical toxicology can be applied to testing in hospital laboratories, emergency departments, workplace drug testing programmes, sports drug testing, onsite drug testing and for medico legal reasons.

The Randox biochip test menu is made up of 42 drug assays, allowing detection of 170 drug classes and metabolites in biological samples. Multiple drug assays are consolidated into a specific array format, allowing clinicians to establish a comprehensive patient picture from a rapid one-shot assay. Each Biochip is allocated to one patient where multiple results can be obtained without the need to aliquot sample for individual tests. The Biochip process has been proven to increase laboratory efficiency by reducing wastage and labour time.
