Siemens RAPIDLab Systems Now Include Whole Blood Neonatal Bilirubin Testing

Deerfield, Ill., February 26, 2010 -  Siemens RAPIDLab® 1200 series blood gas analyzers offer neonatal bilirubin (nBili) testing that detects elevated levels of bilirubin with a 60 second turnaround time. If undetected, elevated bilirubin can lead to a variety of health issues in newborn infants, from jaundice to neurological disorders and, in severe cases, brain damage.

Siemens nBili test provides fast, accurate results without increasing monthly operating costs. This Siemens test requires only 100uL sample of whole blood measuring 2 - 30 mg/dl and can be conducted as part of a neonatal test panel that includes blood gas, pH, electrolytes, metabolites, total hemoglobin and CO-oximetry. No additional reagents or sample preparation are needed for this Siemens nBili test. For additional information, visit www.usa.siemens.com/bloodgas
